Modern Planter Wall
Haringey, North London
“Andy looked after the landscaping and maintenance of my gardens in London for six years. He is not only extremely friendly, efficient and immaculate at clearing up after the work is done, but the work has always been of a very high standard. I would recommend without hesitation.”
To revive the walled front courtyard garden on an end of terrace Victorian property situated on a busy residential street in North London, in order to create a modern frontage with an accessible space for refuse bins.
The tired wall bordering the property was upgraded to a feature planter wall with integrated drainage. The coping stones capping the wall were removed and a bespoke lead channel was installed incorporating water overflow spouts to control drainage. Yellow Belau hardwood timber borders were constructed, protected by weed-suppressant matting, and Heucheras and Berberis – selected for their hardy and low-maintenance qualities – were planted. A pantone-mixed weather-shield paint shade was selected to complement the Yellow Balau borders. The entranceway paving was replaced with graphite grey limestone, and extended to create a base for the refuse bins, with the additional space filled with dove-grey gravel to aid drainage.
Andy looked after the landscaping and maintenance of my gardens in London for six years. He is not only extremely friendly, efficient and immaculate at clearing up after the work is done, but the work has always been of a very high standard. Most recently, with Gardens of London, he transformed a bare yard into a stunning landscaped space with raised beds and a new deck, as well as turning a dreary front garden into a thing of beauty. He is also very collaborative, and full of creative suggestions on everything from planting to paint colour. I would recommend without hesitation … London’s loss is Manchester’s gain!
