New Build Garden Redesign

The brief:

To re-design the back garden of a modern new-build home, transforming it to a more versatile and varied space.

The work:

Hunter Gardens compartmentalised the garden into three distinct areas – lawn, paving, decking. Black limestone slabs were laid to create a paving area running the length of the house and incorporating a black ice gravel gully with perforated land drainage below to help disperse water in heavy downpours. White rendered raised beds with Brazilian Ipe hardwood capping were installed to act as dividers within the garden, with one containing a bespoke recessed Ipe seat. Turf was laid in the North West corner of the plot to get ample sun to guarantee a high-quality sword throughout the year. An Ipe hardwood decked area was installed a step down from the lawn, it was sanded and oiled to enhance the grain and to prevent the sun’s UV rays from silvering up the timber. The old concrete and lap panel fencing to the East of the garden was refreshed with dark grey paint, cladded with western red cedar batons and, finally, transformed with some outdoor up and down spotlight lighting. Contemporary planting will be done next Spring.
